fabulous bedrooms

a monochromatic color scheme is always a classic. i love the symmetry around the bed with the pictures, lamps, and side tables. fur rugs and throws offer such great texture for bedrooms. so soft and inviting, just like a bedroom should be.

another monochromatic color scheme that is very well done. i love that they chose to be brave and put black on the walls. this room proves that even when using black a room can still feel light and airy.

i absolutely love the colors used in this room. gold and turquiose compliment one another so well. and aren't the valences above the beds so interesting? i love the overhead lighting above the beds as well. who says you have to have lamps and side tables next to a bed? be adventurous!

this bedroom looks so calming and relaxing. i'd live in it for sure!

this is such an electic, fun bedroom! the colors are a bit random, but they come together to achieve a very attractive room. the side tables are so cute. and that yellow chair is just begging you to curl up and read a book.

finally, my favorite. you can't even see the bed in this photo, but we know it's there and we know it's a bedroom. there's just something about those window treatments that makes it hard to look away from them. they are gooorgeous. i'm generally just a fuss-free, side panels type girl when it comes to windows, but these have made me change my mind. those balloon shades are undeniably chic.

just say no. to platform flip flops.

after a long cold winter there's nothing i look forward to more than the warm sunshine, blossoming flowers, and new wardrobe that spring brings. however, i am not so much looking forward to the inevitable sightings of these 3" high foam abominations. a flip flop is a flip flop. the platform isn't fooling anybody.

roadtrip + knoxville + benji and bros + andrew w.k.

last weekend was a blast. we went on a roadtrip to knoxville, TN to see Andrew W.K. perform at the Big Ears music festival. he played with a very talented string quartet which made for a super entertaining show. each of the violinists went to the Julliard School of Music. it was interesting to hear classical music combined with modern rock. the pictures of him above are of a hysterical interpretive dance he did at the end of the show.

short and sweet

"I am no one special, just a common man with common thoughts. I've led a common life. There are no monuments dedicated to me, and my name will soon be forgotten. But in one respect, I've succeeded as gloriously as anyone who ever lived. I've loved another with all my heart and soul, and for me, that has always been enough."
-the Notebook : Nicholas Sparks-

call me a sap, but this is my favorite quote of all time. it actually changed my life in a lot of ways. even sappier, I know.
